Saturday, January 7, 2011 – 9:00 a.m.
Mastin Center , Fairchild , WI
Quad County ATV Club’s first meeting of 2012 was called to order by Dean Sabin, president, at 9:05 a.m. Roll Call -- Officers present were Dean Sabin, George Mann, Sam Van Horn, Jill Sabin, and Ardy Robertson. Absent were Carl Spurling , Steve Buchholz, and Bill Bethke. Other members in attendance were Jeanie and Willie Olson, Bob McBride, and Jim McBride. It was previously agreed that Bill Bethke will be available by speaker phone to make up a quorum if necessary.
Secretary’s report from the November, 2011 meeting was read by Ardy Robertson. Motion by Sam Van Horn, seconded by Willie Olson to accept the report, and motion carried.
Treasurer’s report of income and expenses was presented by Jill Sabin. Discussion on ice races which will be held January 22, at Rock Dam, where we will be sponsoring the pee wee class. Also discussed was the TV for the Memorial Day prize – Sam Van Horn was able to purchase a 32 inch flat screen for $209, and this will be paid for because it was previously approved. It was also approved that we will be sending flowers to Gail Hermann who is in the hospital. Willie Olson made a motion to accept the treasurer’s report and pay the bills, and Jim McBride seconded. Motion carried.
Dean mentioned our club’s invitation to attend the Chippewa Valley Riders ATV Club Day Camp at Wild Rock Park today beginning at 10 a.m. This was previously sent out by email by the secretary.
Memorial Day Event: Date for the event is set for Sunday, May 27th as this will allow for members to ride on the poker run on Saturday, and also make preparations for the event on Sunday. We need to get the tickets ordered. After discussion it was decided to order 1,000 books. Ardy will set the ticket up on her computer and try to negotiate with local printers, or an online printery for the best price. Posters need to be up by March – we reviewed last year’s poster and we will check into having the beer distributors print them up again this year. Discussion on start up places being all the local spots rather than just one starting point as we did last year. We will need to renew our raffle license at the end of June, 2012. Dean will contact the person who runs the racing at our Memorial Day event.
Trail Maps – The map committee met on December 10th and got started on these. Members dropped off ad materials with prospective advertisers, and we have received some back in the mail. Discussion on new trails that will be included on the map, and possible advertisers close to these trails. Potential advertisers have until the end of January to secure a spot on the map as we have others interested in getting a spot.
Ice Races – January 22 in Rock Dam. We are sponsors of the Pee Wee class. For more information on the race, contact Carl Spurling .
The club’s tractor has been taken to Steve Elwood’s for repair. Eddie Hermann and Bob McBride hauled it for us. The starter had locked up, and he will work on it soon.
Campground: Bob McBride brought up the existing holding tank that is in place and that we could check the regulations to see if we could legally make another hookup to that tank for a dumping station. Bob will check with Lamoine Hanson of Requa Septic to see what the regulations are.
Sam Van Horn brought up that he would like to get a set of portable bleachers for our events. Discussion followed.
Motion made by Jill to adjourn, seconded by Sam. Motion carried.
Next meeting is set for Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 9 a.m. at the Mastin Center .
